Fernando has ample experience assisting clients on M&A cross-border and local transactions, corporate, commercial and competition law matters, Fernando has recently been focusing on breaking new ground in Colombian law working with startups, incubators and investors, structuring venture capital funds and assisting innovative projects in Colombia.
An attorney and political scientist, Fernando has been a member of Muñoz Tamayo & Asociados since 2008. He made a promising start in his studies, receiving the Kettering Prize, awarded to work on the study of democracy, for his thesis. Since then, Fernando has actively assisted national and international clients in complex transactions, business operations and negotiations.
Fernando worked on the acquisition process of the Colombian company Gráficas Los Andes by the Colombian subsidiary of Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Packaging International, one of the largest producers of coated cardboard and folding cartons. He also advised the company on the acquisition of such line of business to Carvajal Empaques.
Fernando advised Vetra, a major Colombian exploration and production company, in the securement of a Senior Credit Agreement worth around US$ 200 million and CEMIG and a major foreign pension fund in the different bidding processes carried out by the national government to purchase 57% of the shares of Isagen, the third largest power generating company in Colombia.
Fernando has been assisting Andean Tower Partners – ATP, an American major private independent operator of wireless communications infrastructure, in several M&A operations, lease ups and asset purchase agreements.
Before studying in London, in 2012 Fernando participated in an exchange program with Peruvian law firm Rebaza, Alcazar & De Las Casas.
