Before creating the firm, and for ten years, he was the Managing Partner of the Madrid office of Allen & Overy and for 18 years the Madrid office of Ventura Garces & López-Ibor Abogados, a firm founded by himself together with the late Ventura Garces, a leading commercial lawyer in Barcelona.

His practice has covered virtually all aspects of corporate law, finance and banking, aviation law, litigation and arbitration, and mediation. He has been involved in real estate transactions through out Spain and become a recognized expert in Spanish urban and zoning law having obtained landmark judgements in the courts of the Balearics and Andalucia on complex expropriation issues..

Therefore, through his career he has been involved in a very wide range of subjects.

Alfonso started his career in the legal department of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
