National law firm, Piper Alderman, welcomes a new Planning and Environment team in the Sydney office, comprising partner Paul Vergotis, special counsel Alicia Chryssochoides and a Foreign Legal Associate.
Paul and his team specialise in planning, environment and local government law, including litigation in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, compulsory acquisitions, civil and criminal prosecutions, heritage matters and due diligence advice work.
Commenting on his decision to join Piper Alderman, Paul said:

Paul has provided advice in the areas of town planning, environmental compliance and corporate governance to many private organisations and public authorities for over 20 years and has acted for numerous local councils in NSW during his career.
Special counsel, Alicia Chryssochoides, has worked with Paul for a number of years and has comprehensive experience in all facets of planning and environment law. Like Paul, Alicia has acted for private entities as well as local government authorities.
Paul and his team join former colleague and recently appointed partner, Marcus Andrews in the Sydney office; in addition to existing Sydney based partners Richard Abbott and Margot King. Piper Alderman’s national Real Estate team led by Mark Askin and Adam Rinaldi, now boasts 12 partners.

Paul is an Accredited Specialist with the NSW Law Society in Planning and Environment Law; a longstanding member of the Local Planning Panels for Northern Beaches, Georges River and Strathfield Councils, which he chairs and appears as an expert member.
Paul is also a member of the Law Society’s Environmental Planning & Development Committee and a member of the Specialist Accreditation Planning and Environment Law Advisory Committee.
