Felsberg Advogados, a full-service law firm with more than 50 years of history, has just gained a new partner: Gabriel Paranaguá. He will be one of the leaders of the Tax Law team, made up of more than 20 professionals, which includes tax consulting and planning, tax litigation and tax liability management, as well as customs and social security law, estate, and succession planning.
With an LL.B. from PUC-RJ, Paranaguá has been a member of Felsberg Advogados for more than 10 years. He has a postgraduate degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in Tax Auditing, and from Cândido Mendes University, in Tax Process. Recognized several times as a Rising Star by the traditional ranking The Legal 500 and ranked by Chambers & Partners, he is also a specialist in International Taxation and Tax Planning (Brazilian Association of Financial Law) and in International Tax Planning (Sheltons International Tax Training Institute).
“The recognized reputation of Felsberg Advogados, which combines tradition and innovation, excellence and agility, has made the firm one of the most admired in Brazil”, states Paranaguá. “I usually say that I don't do anything halfway in life and that applies to my professional career. I have been working with tax consulting since my first internship and I believe that the experience acquired after more than a decade of services provided to hundreds of clients continues to add a lot to the Tax Law team, now as a partner”.
Over the past few years, Paranaguá has been involved in all areas of tax consulting, advising clients on routine tax matters and complex planning and reorganizations. This versatility is in line with the work philosophy of Felsberg Advogados, which has expanded its areas of activity in response to the high level of complexity that today dominates the business environment, including the universe of law. “Today I serve clients ranging from a publicly traded company that operates satellites around the world to operations with cryptocurrencies, wealth planning and international tax planning”.
For Thomas Felsberg, founding partner of the firm, the appointment of new partners, in addition to valuing professionals and retaining the talent who are already in the firm, aims to reinforce sectors considered essential for growth plans. “We are convinced that this is a wise and valuable strategy from the office's perspective, but also from the people management point of view. And we want that to happen many times.”
Paranaguá's trajectory at the office is also punctuated by participation in internal projects. Since the beginning, he has participated in the Tomorrow Committee, designed to brainstorm actions for innovation and modernization of the office, is a member of the Diversity Committee and, more recently, became part of the Development Committee. He also leads the international taxation core group within the firm.
In addition to Gabriel Paranaguá, the Tax Law team at Felsberg Advogados has Anna Flávia de Azevedo Izelli Greco, Ivan Campos, Rafael Malheiro and Rodrigo Prado Gonçalves as partners.
