Bell Nunnally Partners Alana K. Ackels and Mark A. Shoffner have been named to Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Corporate Employment Lawyers guide, with special recognition for litigation.
In its 16th year, legal media company Lawdragon’s guide honors the nation’s top advisors to businesses, universities, nonprofits and other organizations dealing with the mind-bending matrix of today’s global workforce. The 500 honorees nationwide are selected based on submissions, journalistic research and editorial vetting by a peer board. Of the 500 lawyers, only 200 focus on employment litigation, defending discrimination, ERISA, wage and hour and other claims. Other attorneys listed focus on advice and counsel, immigration, employee benefits and executive compensation.
Ackels advises employers on minimizing risk, protecting their businesses and navigating state and federal laws governing the employer-employee relationship. She has extensive experience litigating employment disputes in state and federal courts and arbitration, including routinely defending employers against claims involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation; wage and hour claims; trade secret litigation; and non-compete matters.
Shoffner handles all manner of employment litigation, including claims brought under the wage and hour laws, state and federal anti-discrimination statutes, and federal and state trade secrets laws, and he has also prosecuted and defended cases for clients seeking to enforce or invalidate post-employment restrictions, including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.
