Bell Nunnally Partner Heath Cheek was recently elected to the State Fair of Texas board of directors, the group charged with overseeing the event’s governance. Running from September 29 to October 22 at Fair Park, the State Fair is the largest annual event in Texas with roots dating back to 1886.
Cheek was previously on the State Fair’s advisory board and has been heavily involved with the annual Livestock Auction, a philanthropic effort providing scholarships for inner-city Dallas and rural Texas students attending in-state colleges and universities, as well as supporting youth agricultural projects throughout the state. In 2022, the auction raised 1.8 million for about 200 kids. Cheek is in the midst of a nine-year leadership commitment to the Livestock Auction and is serving as immediate past chair until 2024.
In addition to serving on the State Fair’s advisory board (since 2021), Cheek served as its Cabinet Chair (2018-2021), Development Cabinet Vice-Chair (2015-2017) and Raffle Chair (2011-2015).
Cheek’s involvement with and commitment to the State Fair was profiled in a past D Magazine feature.
